Reiki and Tapping

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping is an evidenced based therapeutic technique that involves tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on a particular issue, such as a negative emotion or a physical symptom. It is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and psychology.

During EFT tapping, you repeat a setup statement that acknowledges the issue and affirms self-acceptance, followed by a series of tapping on specific points on the body while stating affirmations or focusing on the issue. The tapping sequence includes points on the head, face, upper body, and hands. (See below)

EFT tapping helps to release energy blockages and reduce the emotional intensity associated with a particular issue, allowing for emotional healing and a sense of relief. It can be used to address issues such as anxiety, stress, phobias, and emotional upset. It can be used for self-limiting beliefs and to enhance performance.

Combining Reiki with EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) tapping can be a powerful way to address issues and promote healing.

These are general approaches to consider when using Reiki with EFT tapping:

1. Set Your Intention: Start by setting your intention for the session. What do you want to work on or release? Be clear about your intention and what you want to achieve.

2. Prepare for Reiki: Begin with a short Reiki meditation or self-Reiki session to center yourself and connect with the universal life force energy.

3. Start Tapping: Identify the specific issue you want to work on and begin tapping through the EFT points while stating your setup statement and tapping into the issue for round 1. In round 2 and 3 you can then add additions to the words that incorporate how the issue can change to be more positive.

4. Incorporate Reiki: As you tap through the points, you can also visualize or intend that Reiki energy is flowing through your hands and into the tapping points, enhancing the healing process.

5. Repeat Affirmations: While tapping, you can also incorporate positive affirmations or statements that reinforce your intention and promote healing.

6. Release and Ground: After tapping, take a few moments to breathe deeply and ground yourself. You can also do a closing Reiki meditation to seal the energy work.

It’s important to listen to your body and intuition during this process. If you feel guided to focus more on Reiki or EFT at any point, follow that guidance. Experiment with different approaches to find what works best for you.

Here’s a basic guide on how to do tapping using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques):

1. Identify the Issue: Identify the specific issue you want to address. This could be a negative emotion, a limiting belief, a physical sensation, or a specific problem you’re facing.

2. Rate the Intensity: Before you start tapping, rate the intensity of the issue on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being no intensity and 10 being the highest intensity.

3. Setup Statement: Create a setup statement that acknowledges the issue and affirms self-acceptance. For example, “Even though I feel anxious about this situation, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

4. Tap the Karate Chop Point: Using the fingers of one hand, tap the karate chop point on the side of your other hand (the fleshy part below your pinky finger) while repeating your setup statement three times.

5. Tap the EFT Points: Tap on each of the following points about 7 times or more, while stating your reminder phrase or focusing on the issue:

  • Beginning of the eyebrow (EB)
  • Side of the eye (SE)
  • Under the eye (UE)
  • Under the nose (UN)
  • Chin (CH)
  • Collarbone (CB)
  • Under the arm (UA)
  • Top of the head (TH)

6.  Reassess the Intensity: After completing a round of tapping, reassess the intensity of the issue on the scale of 0 to 10.

7. Repeat as Needed: Continue tapping on the issue, using the same or modified setup statement and reminder phrase, until the intensity decreases to a comfortable level. You can also do a short round of tapping on positive affirmations to reinforce the positive changes.

8. Closing: Take a deep breath, hold it in and let the energy circulate and then relax, and acknowledge any changes you’ve experienced.
